Play Off Semi Final Tonight at Culver Road

By Stuart Morgan

Heath travel to Culver Road tonight to face Horsham in the Semi Final of the Bostik South East Play Off

It's a ground that Heath have a come accustomed to this season playing against Brighton U23’s in the Charity Shield followed by Horsham in the league, then Lancing in the RUR Cup and finally Burgess Hill Town in the Semi Final of the Sussex Senior Cup. We of course are there tonight as Horsham finished 2nd in the league giving them home advantage for the tie and we will again return next Bank Holiday Monday for the final of the RUR Cup against Peacehaven!

Tonight will be a fine occasion where two Sussex side meet and many of the players know each other or have played in the same side in the past. Heath fans will remember both Rob O’Toole and George Hayward who pulled on the blue and white in previous seasons.

Although Horsham finished the season 11 points ahead of Heath, in the league matches between the two sides Heath took all 6 points, the first three in probably the game of the season played at Lancing where Heath came back from 3 goals down to end up winning the match in injury time 5-4, at Hanbury Heath came away 2-0 winners after Horsham were reduced to 10 men. The sides have actually met 3 times this season and Horsham took the plaudits winning 5-2 at Hanbury in the Velocity Cup.

For Heath it has been a brilliant season that no expectations were put on at the start with the key aim of survival and stabilising as a Bostik league club, In a tough, tight and competitive league we can now look back at the great achievements and strides forwards the club and players have made to be involved in the play offs and extend the season a little longer.

Tonight should be about enjoyment and pride about how far everyone has come and over 90 minutes (and extra time and penalties if required) who knows there may well be a play off final to compete at either Ashford or Hastings on Friday night (3rd May)
