Heath Book Quarter Final Place
By Stuart Morgan
Heath overcame a potential banana skin beating Little Common 4-0 at The Oval on Tuesday night
Heath booked a quarter final place in the Sussex Senior Cup after a competent display over Little Common.
In a first half Heath controlled dominated possession and controlled the tempo of the game but the resilient hosts held out until 34 minutes before their goal could be breached.
When the goal came it was not clear cut and even the final touch has been handed over to the dubious goals committee but Callum Saunders effort ended up in the back of the net via a touch or 2 on the way.
The lead was doubled just 5 minutes later and this time there was no mistake in the scorer as Karly Akehurst got on the end of a Callum Saunders corner and steered the ball home superbly.
Half Time - Little Common 0-2 Heath
After the break Heath continued to play flowing football that Common would try and disrupt but often wasteful when winning the ball back, the referee did well to restore calm as it threatened to boil over at one point and the hosts keeper was called into action time and again.
With 62 minutes played it was as good as game over as Karly Akehurst added his second and Heath's third slotting into the far corner just beyond the reach of the diving keeper.
Substitute Alusine Bangura confirmed Heath's name in the hat as he reacted quickest from Callum Saunders saved shot and turned the ball in from a tight angle.
No more goals but credit to Little Common who kept working until the end with a couple of efforts just missing the post, but it was Heath who go in the hat for a quarter final place.
