Heath Continue Good Form with Win Over Broadbridge Heath
It was finally a Tuesday night to savour at Hanbury as Heath put 5 past The Bears
Manager Shaun Saunders again made one change from Saturday with Luc Doherty returning to right back and Joel Daly dropping to the bench after playing 90 minutes for Whitehawk U18’s the night before.
It was just the start Heath needed when in just the 3rd minute Callum Saunders made an impressive run inside from the right before slotting the ball through to George Hayward who fired first time across the keeper into the far corner.

Broadbridge Heath responded well but a couple of efforts from distance couldn’t hit the target, the visitors were quick to do everything, throw in, free kicks and corners and in the 13th minute a quickly taken short corner caught Heath napping as Tom Bold’s cross found Javlon Campbell unmarked at the far post and he slotted in from 8 yards.

This time it was Heath’s time to respond Trevor McCredie’s lay back to the edge of the box found strike partner Alfie Rogers who’s outside of the boot strike had the keeper at full stretch along the ground to push around the post.
With 17 minutes played a quick throw in from the visitors saw an early ball crossed in but the striker couldn’t keep his header down.
Heath regained the lead on 22 minutes, head tennis between the two sides eventually saw Karly Akehurst head towards goal that Callum Saunders then flicked into Trevor McCreadie’s path, Heath’s top scorer saw his effort from a tight angle hit a combination of the keeper and his near post but Jamie Weston had gambled and beat the defender to the loose ball to tap in from a yard.

Another Quick free kick by the visitors skipper was inch perfect for the striker on 34 minutes but Simon Lehkyj got down well to save.
The final effort of the half on the stroke of half time was by Karly Akehurst, the Heath midfielder lined up a free kick on the edge of the box after Alfie Rogers had been fouled but the curling effort was a few inches wide of the upright.

Heath had an early shout for a penalty waved away on 50 minutes as Callum Saunders turned and shot and the ball seemed to hit the arm of the defender, the follow up effort from Luc Doherty was easily gathered.
It was just a minute later though that Heath extended their lead to put some daylight between the sides for the first time in the game, a superb jinxing run by Jamie Weston saw him pull the ball back from deep inside the oppositions area and Karly Akehurst met the ball perfectly to fire into the top corner.

With 55 minutes played Heath nearly put the game out of sight as Callum Saunders free kick hit the post and Bailie Rogers follow up was blocked.
BBH spirit was still there and continued to work hard but in the 58 minute the number 11 could only fire over.
Heath made their first change with an hour played with Scott Chamberlain replacing the impressive George Hayward in the middle.
On 62 minutes the visitors had a penalty shout of their own waved away as a strike from 20 yards hit Tom Graves and ended in the arms of Simon Lehkyj.
Alex Laing made his second appearance of the season replacing Callum Saunders on 65 minutes.
Both sides still looked for goals as Trevor McCreadie saw an effort well blocked and Devon Fendor fired over for the visitors.
Alex Laing was unlucky on 72 minutes as his well hit strike took a deflection that sent the ball just over the bar and out for a Heath corner, the corner eventually came to Alfie Rogers but he couldn’t keep his effort down from 18 yards out.
Omar Bukleb replaced Tom Graves on 74 minutes as Heath made their last change for the night.
A couple of wild challenges saw the BBH skipper and Alex Laing go into the referees note book on 78 minutes.
With just under 10 to play Heath were finishing the stringer of the sides, first Jamie Weston saw his effort just over then with 84 minutes played Alfie Rogers was put in by Jamie Weston and despite going away from goal was bundled over. Trevor McCreadie made no mistake from the spot sending the keeper the wrong way.

Just three minutes of normal time remained when Heath improved their goals for by and extra one, Alex Laing crossed and the ball was headed clear to about 25 yards where Karly Akehurst headed back where it came from and perfectly for Trevor McCreadie who drew the keeper before smash the ball in for his 16th league goal of the season.

Man of the Match – Nathan Cooper – As always had a solid game at the back, many other contenders within the match but Nathan was picked out as the MOM by one of the Heath Supporters.
Afterwards manager Shaun Saunders said “We made a great start and the game was flowing well but we switched off for a few seconds and you get punished in this league, I think the scoreline has been coming in certain games but we lacked that spark to just make it happen, tonight however we too our chances when they presented themselves and the extra 4 goals will help the ‘goals for ‘Column ”.
