93rd minute penalty halts Heath's winning run
Heath were hit hard deep in injury time as East Grinstead scored from the spot to share the points at East Court
Heath played their final match of the season making the short trip to mid table East Grinstead Town knowing that a win would also see them top off a perfect December but as Christmas hangovers go it hit Heath hard in the opening 20 minutes.
The hosts were quick out of the block, working hard and keeping Heath on the back foot and it was no real surprise with just 6 minutes played their hard work paid off albeit with a little bit of luck, Heath failed to clear the ball and it ended up at the feet of Greg Cundle and his strike took a deflection that sent the ball up and over Josh Heyburn.
The Host's continued their pressure as Heath really struggled to find any of their usual fluidity being caught in possession or wasteful with their passing. It was the hosts that extended their lead on 16 minutes when a corner in was met by Drew Cooney who freely headed in to the back of the net.
Somehow Heath did not let their heads drop and started to finally wake up to the game going on around them, with 21 minutes played that life line came as Callum Saunders was released on the right and his square ball across cut out the keeper and gave Karly Akehurst the simplest of tap ins.
The goal really did spark Heath into life and with 33 minutes played the game was all level, Kieran Rowe exchanged passes with Alex Laing and his effort towards the far corner could only be pushed away by Sheikh Ceesay into the path of Callum Saunders who finished brilliantly from a tight angle.
East Grinstead looked to respond but the effort cleared the bar and then at the other end Callum Saunders was left wondering how he hadn't doubled his tally steering the ball the wrong side of the post.
Heath were to complete the turnaround before the break however and it was another collectors item from Byron Napper as the ball dropped to him on the edge of the area he volleyed into the far corner for his 3rd goal of the season.
Half Time East Grinstead Town 2-3 Heath
The drama of the first half never really materialized in the second 45 minutes with some rare flashes and the referee trying to keep tempers under control.
Karly Akehurst saw an effort from the edge of the box fly over on 53 minutes and at the other end the hosts went close flashing a ball across goal and then a header well met from a good cross headed wide.
Callum Saunders put in a fine block on 68 minutes to stop Josh Heyburn being called into action. Heath lost Josh Spinks shortly after when he was caught late earning the Grinstead player a yellow but ending Spinks' afternoon.
Heyburn had to be quick off his line on 77 minutes saving at the attackers feet and then pulled off the saves of the match 5 minutes later as the hosts heaped the pressure on. It was a double save that left the East Grinstead players thinking it wasn't to be their day but one any watching Heath supporter has come accustomed to.
There was to be one final twist as the hosts threw men forwards in search of an equaliser, a long diagonal ball was put in to the Heath box and the header towards goal hit Joel Daly on his arm with the referee immediately pointing to the spot.
It was Greg Cundle who stepped up and converted as Josh Heyburn dived left he put it t the keepers right in the 93 minute
