Points Shared in Stalemate

Heath and Borough have to settle for a point a piece as defences come out on top.
Heath and Borough played out a goalless draw that helped neither side as Greenwich Borough fight to avoid relegation and Heath look to cement a playoff place.
In a poor first half the only efforts on goal came from Heath but none tested keeper Oliver Webber in the Borough goal.
After the break both sides continued to try from distance but failed to find the target, Heath came closest to opening the scoring on 72 minutes when sub Alex Laing almost caught Oliver Webber out on his near post with a fine free kick but the keeper got across really well to make a fine save and prevent an opening goal.
3 minutes later striker Melford Simpson couldn’t believe it as he stooped low to meet Trevor McCreadie’s cross but the ball hit the post and back into the keepers arms.
In the final 10 minutes both sides went looking for the winner but Heath’s efforts from distance were easily dealt with then at the other end Greenwich Borough had two great chances to win the match as first they pounced on a defence slip but the effort was straight at Josh Heyburn and then with just minutes left some great work on the left saw the striker with the goal at his mercy but he fired wide.
Both sides settled for a point which on balance was a fair result.
