Gap Closes in on Heath
By Mark Russ
A below par Heath performance and a VCD win means the playoff zone gap is down to just 3 points with 3 games remaining
In a first half low on action it was the visitors that opened the scoring on 9 minutes when Heath failed to deal with a corner and Jack Miles forced the ball just over the line that needed confirmation from the assistant referee to allow the goal.
Heath responded well with Omar Folkes making his first start linking up well with Kenny Pogue and the pairing set Callum Saunders free but his effort was just wide of the mark, Saunders went even closer 5 minutes later this time being denied by a fine right handed stop from Oaks keeper Ben Cardle-Card.
The rest of the half played out in the middle with both sides picking up a yellow card and neither keeper called into making a save to note.
Alex ALaing fired over the top from a freekick and at the other end Ant Ender watched the ball to safety on several occasions.
The second half failed to provide any real quality as neither side called really called either keeper into action.
George Landais replaced Kenny Pogue and did get a strike on target but it was easily collected by the Oaks keeper. The visitors continued to play on the break and did look to cause Heath problems but the closest they came was right at the end of the half but the effort only found the side netting and the visitors held out to take all three points back to Sevenoaks.
Full Time Heath 0-1 Sevenoaks
Heath will need to re-group for the remaining 3 fixtures that see them travel to Ramsgate next Saturday followed by hosting East Grinstead Town on Easter Monday and then the final fixture away at Ashford Utd which could decide the final playoff place.
